Summer is officially here, which means the concert calendar explodes with options. Below are some suggestions:
Friday, 5/30 – Head to Fountain Square. You’ve got Belle Adair at the Hi-Fi or songwriter extraordinaire Todd Snider at Radio Radio.
Saturday, 5/31 – Polica is back at Radio Radio. Let’s dance!
Tuesday, 6/3 – Psych pop mainstays Gringo Starr make a return visit to Indy. Head to the Hi-Fi.
Wednesday 6/4 – Two good options at Old National Centre. Dig the bombast? Bastille is in the Egyptian Room. Prefer smart stand-up? Go see Eddie Izzard in the Theatre. Remember, between cake or death, take the cake.
Thursday 6/5 – Killer album release show at the Hi-Fi for Jon Autry. His new record is crazy-good. Also on the bill is Mike Adams at his Honest Weight (another great new record) and the Bonesetters. Unreal bill.
Friday 6/6 – It’s First Friday! The Hi-Fi has Good Graeff with My Gold Mask and the Dapper. NeedtoBreath is at ONC if you want something more spiritual.
Saturday, 6/7 – Bonkers night. The Vogue has Old 97s with Lydia Loveless, new records from both are stellar. I’ll be at the Hi-Fi for World Party!!! — never thought I’d see Karl Wallinger and friends. Some of the best 90s pop came from his brain. Or you can go to the White Rabbit Cabaret for French Horn Rebellion. If you’re not at one of these Saturday night, you better have a good excuse.
Sunday, 6/8 – WarmFest kicks off with a WarmUp show from 12-6 at Broad Ripple Park. The Last IV and Hero Jr. lead the bill. Fun, free family event. That night, put the kids to bed and swing by the Vogue for Dr. Dog.
